French Toast is my usual way to use up any leftover bread. Just toss everything together and bam, you have a tantalizing breakfast ready and it keeps us full for a long time, thanks to addition of the eggs and milk. You can make it more healthier by using whole grain toast instead of white bread. The presence of fiber in French toast promotes digestive health by adding bulk to the foods that satisfy hunger.

1 regular slice of Plain French Toast has about 6 grams of protein. They are a healthier alternative than pancakes.

Contrary to popular belief the French did not invent French toast but Americans who gave the name “French Toast” to this dish. In fact, French toast was invented long before France even existed.

It is told that it was a man named Joseph French who created the dish in 1724, and advertised it as β€œFrench Toast” because he was grammatically inept and forgot the apostrophe.

One of the earliest versions of french toast has been traced back to the Roman Empire. The name β€œfrench toast” was first used in 17th century England. The recipe and name were brought to America by early settlers. In France, the dish is called β€œpain perdu,” meaning β€œlost bread.”
