Mashed potato or mashed potatoes is a dish made by mashing boiled or steamed potatoes with milk, butter, salt and pepper. It is generally served as a side dish to meat or vegetables.

With just Potatoes, Milk, and Butter make the most creamiest mashed potatoes in the easiest possible way. The trick to achieve creaminess lies in mashing the potatoes through a fine sieve but you can use a potato masher as well.

Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients

To Cook Potatoes

  • 3 Big potatoes, 370g, cut into Quarters
  • 1/2 Tbsp Salt (for cooking)
  • Water to cook

For Mashed Potatoes:

  • 1/4 Cup Hot Milk or Heavy Cream
  • 2 Tbsp | 30g unsalted Butter
  • Salt to taste

To Garnish

  • Extra melted butter
  • Chives or Parsley , chopped

Instructions

  • Wash the Potatoes well and cut into Quarters. Transfer the Potatoes in a pressure cooker or a pot to cook them. Add Salt and Water. Cook for 1 Whistle or till cooked through.
  • Once cooked, Strain them and peel the Skin. Pass them through a Sieve to fine mash them. You can also mash them using a potato masher.
  • Cook the fine mashed potatoes on Low Heat for a few minutes to remove any moisture.
  • Add Hot Milk bit by bit and mix well. Stir it continuously on low heat.
  • Add butter at the end and mix well. Serve them Hot with Creamy Mushroom Sauce with veggies on the side.
